In 2008"SNOWY"was published and now its sequel, "SNOWY竇。": The Frosty Hour."

 For more than thirty years I have been taking photographes on the theme of collieries and mines.

On the way I have been helped by a lot of people and also put them to trouble. I would like to take this occasion to express my sincere thanks and apologies. Hagiwara makes gentle photographs of snow, usually concentrating on bringing out a particular texture as it rests on a different surface. The book looks at snow in a number of different settings--sometimes up close, sometimes as part of a larger landscape. In some cases he took a photo at night with a long exposure, so that the light trails of stairs correspond to the snow below. The photographs in this book are very quiet; perhaps it has been designed to curl up with on a cold winter night, so you can remind yourself of what you've avoiding by staying in.
