Hagiwara makes gentle photographs of snow, usually concentrating on bringing out a particular texture as it rests on a different surface. The book looks at snow in a number of different settings--sometimes up close, sometimes as part of a larger landscape. In some cases he took a photo at night with a long exposure, so that the light trails of stairs correspond to the snow below. The photographs in this book are very quiet; perhaps it has been designed to curl up with on a cold winter night, so you can remind yourself of what you've avoiding by staying in.
